Poitou, La Marches, Angoulême, Périgord, Auvergne, Saintonge and Limousin will be the counties (holdings/baronies). Instead of having individual provinces that make up a duchy which in turn make up a kingdom which in turn make up an empire – duchies will be featured as regions (provinces) and their holdings (baronies) will be composed of the provinces/counties.Īn example: The Duchy of Aquitaine will be the region (province). With this in mind, this is another area in which this module aspires to be different and perhaps offer an alternative way to play the game. Even though the entire world is featured, there is just not enough room to fit in every province and even if were possible, the amount of processing power required would be straining on many computers. Now then, due to the nature of the grander scale, there will be alterations in how provinces are mapped out and configured. sheesh… talk about unsaitable ambitions and setting your goals high.

I am not saying that this would be included in the mod but if it was. One possibility is being able to conquer the planet and obtaining the ultimate title Emperor of Terra (Earth). I may at some point create a submod in which players can experience the original way it was made. Note: I have decided against this map setup for now and am going with a more traditional Western/Eastern one.

I feel that this is the better overall method on how to present an entire world in CKII and hopefully you will all agree. It also means that rulers in The Americas will have equal chances to go west or east. This means that rulers in Asia will not have to worry about conquering their way west just for the possibility to sail west and colonize The Americas. The reason for this setup (other than to offer a different perspective) is to allow rulers a greater chance and more freedom of choice when it comes to colonization. Africa, Europe, and the Middle East will be on the utmost eastern part of the map. Australia, Asia, and the Oceania will be featured on the utmost western part of the map. What sort of modifications? Since this mod will at some point down the development cycle, feature the ability to colonize (more on that later) unoccupied/civilized regions, I have 'rearranged' the areas on the map. It is fully customized (thanks again bizarcasm!) and has been modified to some extent. Imperium Universalis features a map that encompasses the world in its entirety, minus the impractical continent of Antarctica. As mentioned above, this has been rectified by obtaining permission to use completely customized map files. The thread was shut down due to my violation of the rules by not securing a foolproof method to prevent those who did not own EUIV from downloading the mod. On my previous (now defunct/locked) thread I talked a bit about how I ported over the EUIV map files and were using them as a basis for this mod. The logical place to begin is where the action will take place the map. I have also received permission from the moderator to start a new thread regarding this mod as I no longer violate any forum rules since obtaining permission to use custom map assets.

Note: Some of the information below has been copied over from my previous thread while a decent amount of new stuff has been added or edited. Without his help there is no telling how long it would have taken to continue this project. However, first I would like to give out a huge thank you to bizarcasm for giving me permission to use and modify his custom EUIV map assets from his Typus Orbis Terrarum mod. Below I will discuss at some length regarding what exactly this mod aspires to become, as well as to what the future holds as far as possible integrated features and mechanics.
